Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Red gel food coloring
- Blue gel food coloring
- 1 cup powdered sugar for coating
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time and stir in vanilla.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Divide the dough into three portions: leave one plain and add red food coloring to one portion and blue to the other.
- Chill covered dough portions in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll small amounts of each colored dough together to form balls, then coat them in powdered sugar.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set. Cool before serving.
