- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 cups Domino® Golden Sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature for frosting
- 8 cups Domino® Powdered Sugar
- 2 tsp almond extract
- 3–5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
- Salt, to taste
- Red and blue gel icing color
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time and add vanilla.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients alternately with milk until just combined.
- Line cupcake pans with liners and fill each about two-thirds full. Bake for 18–20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- For frosting, beat butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar alternating with heavy cream until desired consistency is reached. Mix in almond extract and salt.
- Divide frosting into three bowls; color one red, one blue, and leave the third white. Frost cupcakes in rows representing the American flag.
