  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups finely diced Honeycrisp or Gala apples (about 2 medium)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking sheet with nonstick spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined; add egg, vanilla extract, and applesauce.
  4. Stir in the flour mixture until just combined and gently fold in diced apples.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While baking, whisk powdered sugar and apple cider to make the glaze.
  8. Brush the warm fritters with glaze and broil for 2–4 minutes until caramelized.
  9. Brush remaining glaze over fritters and let sit for 15 minutes before serving.
