  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped apple
  • 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flours, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  3. Cut cold butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour this into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in chopped apples.
  6. Drop spoonfuls (about 1/4 cup) of batter onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 11-13 minutes until golden brown.
