- 2 large eggs

- 3 large egg whites
- 1 cup dark brown sugar (lightly packed)
- 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter (cubed, room temperature)
- 1/4 cup Dulce de Leche (storebought or homemade)
- 2 oz dark chocolate (finely chopped)
- 2 oz heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix vegetable oil, buttermilk, hot water, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients using an electric mixer until well blended.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a rack.
- For frosting, whisk egg whites over simmering water with brown sugar until thickened; add butter and dulce de leche.
- Frost cooled cakes and drizzle with ganache made from melted dark chocolate and heavy cream.
