Description

Hot Honey Fried Shrimp is a mouthwatering dish that perfectly balances crispy textures and bold sweet-heat flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup honey
  • 23 tablespoons hot sauce
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with buttermilk, and one with panko breadcrumbs. Dredge each shrimp first in flour, then buttermilk, and finally coat in panko.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on a cooling rack.
  4. In a saucepan over low heat, combine honey, hot sauce, butter, red pepper flakes (optional), and apple cider vinegar until melted and simmering.
  5. Drizzle the hot honey glaze over the fried shrimp before serving.
