- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- ½ cup honey
- 2–3 tablespoons hot sauce
- Vegetable oil for frying
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Season the shrimp with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
- Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with buttermilk, and one with panko breadcrumbs. Dredge each shrimp first in flour, then buttermilk, and finally coat in panko.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on a cooling rack.
- In a saucepan over low heat, combine honey, hot sauce, butter, red pepper flakes (optional), and apple cider vinegar until melted and simmering.
- Drizzle the hot honey glaze over the fried shrimp before serving.
