- 2 cups shredded pepper jack cheese
- 4 ounces softened cream cheese
- 2 diced jalapeños (seeds removed)
- ½ cup diced green onion
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1½ – 2 cups breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix pepper jack cheese, cream cheese, jalapeños, and green onions until well combined.
- Roll the mixture into small balls and chill on a foil-lined baking sheet.
- Set up dredging stations: one for flour, one for egg and buttermilk mixture, and one for seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each ball in flour, dip in the egg mixture, coat in breadcrumbs, dip again in egg mixture, and coat once more in breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry balls until golden brown on all sides.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
