  • 3/4 cup sourdough discard
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese (preferably full fat)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons cream (milk or half and half would also work)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling.
  3. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir in honey, melted butter, water, and sourdough discard until combined.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth and roll out into a rectangle.
  5. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough and roll it tightly into a log.
  6. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place in a baking dish lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 25-35 minutes until golden brown.
