Description

Twix Cookie Bars are a delightful homemade treat that combines the beloved flavors of the classic candy bar. With a buttery shortbread base, rich caramel filling, and smooth chocolate topping, these bars are perfect for any occasion—be it parties, family gatherings, or simply indulging yourself at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter (for caramel)
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (divided)
  • 8 ounces milk or dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, beat together room temperature butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Gradually add flour until combined.
  2. Press the mixture evenly into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Bake for about 20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  3. For the caramel filling, combine butter, corn syrup, granulated sugar, salt, and heavy whipping cream in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until boiling; then boil without stirring for about 5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract before pouring over baked shortbread.
  4. For the chocolate topping, heat remaining heavy whipping cream in another saucepan until simmering. Remove from heat, add chopped chocolate, and stir until melted and smooth. Pour over the caramel layer.
  5. Allow to cool at room temperature before refrigerating for at least three hours or until firm. Cut into squares and enjoy!
